Q & A

Why would I want three extra cities or areas?

As a benefit of membership in REBAC, your online member profile (name, contact information, designations, and type of service provided) is available on the Web site when someone searches for a buyer's representative.

Until recently, members could be located only in the city of mailing address on our records.

Our members in smaller communities wanted to be listed in the cities surrounding the city they live in because they worked in the other cities as well. Also, the city of mailing address of some members didn't let potential clients know that they worked in a larger, well known, city next door.

Members with primary offices in big cities sometimes focus their efforts on particular neighborhoods of the city and wanted to list themselves there. It also helped to differentiate them from the large number of people who had the big city as their mailing address.

So, by filling out the three fields and submitting them to REBAC -- as an added feature of your membership benefits -- you will be listed under those extra cities or areas when someone searches for a buyer representative there.

What do you mean "cities or areas?"

A city is any official city name (i.e., Chicago, Los Angeles, Baton Rouge) to which mail can be addressed.

An area is generally a neighborhood or a section of a city (e.g., Chicago's Lincoln Park, Lakeview, and Hyde Park areas) whose name is not used as part of any formal address.

Note:  REBAC retains final edit rights with respect to city names and areas.

What is a Special URL?

A Special URL lets potential clients locate your REBAC member profile quickly.  It's a word or name that you choose which can be used on business cards and publicity materials to take your clients directly to your member profile on the REBAC Web site.  For example, if your first name is Greg, you could select "www.REBAC.net/greg" as a special URL.

All members are able to append the REBAC URL ("www.rebac.net") with their membership ID number ("www.rebac.net/00000") to locate their profile directly.  The special URL replaces the member ID but does not replace your REBAC ID in our membership database.  Special URLs are primarily used for marketing purposes.

All special URLs are on a first-come, first-served basis. REBAC does not guarantee the availability of any special URL and retains final editing rights.

Where can I look up the correct city names?

You can find a zip code or the name of a city at the Zip Code/City State Lookup Web Page of the US Postal Service.

If you type in the zip code, it will tell you the default and accepted city names.
If you type in a city name, it will show you all the zip codes affiliated with that city.

Neighborhood or area names should be consistent with the prevailing community standards.

REBAC retains final editing rights.
